Morning Dawns

We camped beside this little lagoon and the birdlife was prolific. Rising for sunrise I just sat and took it in. It was so peaceful and so calm. My trusty camera helped me to capture these memories that I can share.

I wanted to capture the mood & the light. In this piece, I started with my brushes, but ended using my palette knife to give that added texture.

This painting was created over many sessions. The surface that you see has been built up in several layers, leaving marks and splashes visible. The surface is oil paint, with many spatters and signs of over-painting and reworking.

Please note that the edges of the canvas are painted, and it is ready to hang without framing.
